i've always been a fan of the national. self titled "the national" was something listeners weren't ready for and jukeboxes in all seedy bars had been longing for. "sad songs for dirty lovers" was raw and gritty and occasionally vulgar. "the virginia e.p" is one of the easiest listening best flowing e.p's ever. "alligator" was a little more layered, but equally good and "boxer" was the national's most notable gem and they seemed unstoppable. until now. i've been spinning "high violet" for long enough now and all it has managed to do is irritate me. and maybe kill myself. seriously, how much longer can we listen to these grown men sing about their broken hearts. oh and i won't be hosting this album for download, because its shit.
